35 tribals killed in militant attack in Assam

North Gazette News/New Delhi
35 tribals were killed in a militant attack in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam districts on Tuesday evening.

As per reports, the miliants reportedly belonging to National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) or NDFB (S) killed 30 tribal people in Sonitpur and 5 people in Kokrajhar in five separate attacks.

The attacks seem to be in retaliation to the Army and Police action in which many NDFB (S) militants had been reportedly killed.

Assam and its surrounding areas have been put on high alert after the attacks and border between Assam and Bhutan have been sealed.

It is pertinent to mention here that Indian government had launched counter insurgency operation in four Bodoland districts in the North-East which includes Kokrajhar, Udalgiri Chirang and Baksa.
