India, China to setup military hotline to tackle border issues

India, China are seriously planning to setup hotline between military headquarters of the two countries under the provisions of Border Defence Cooperation Agreement.

India’s Defence minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said that it is being seriously considered to establish hotline connection between the military headquarters of India and China.

“The establishment of a hotline between military headquarters of India and China has been discussed at various forums with China, including during the visit of Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee to China in July 2014,” Parrikar said.

Defence Minister added that the issue was also discussed in 7th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) held in New Delhi on October 16-17, 2014.
