Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) would ply fixed fare buses equipped with Intelligent Transport system (ITS) from January 2015. This was disclosed by the transport minister GS Bali here on Friday.
Bali said that such 800 buses would soon be added in the existing fleet of HRTC. This would help the commuters in state to have comfortable journey on the hilly roads.
He said that HRTC would also reduce the bus fares in Himachal after the substantial reduction in diesel prices. “It is not possible for the HRTC authority to decide the bus fares time and again as diesel prices are crashing every month. HRTC would decided the bus fares only after substantial reduction,” he added.
He denied the allegation leveled by opposition BJP that Congress government has reduced the subsidy on food items under Public Distribution systme. “We are spending an amount of Rs. 220 Crore to provide subsidized food items to the people and it the inflation which has hiked the prices of food items,” he claimed.
