British era heritage building, Minto Court gutted in fire in Shimla

Shimla/November 2 (NG News)
A major portion of British era heritage building, Minto Court that houses the office of Deepak Project of the Border Roads Organisation, was destroyed in a major fire in Shimla on Saturday night.

As per reports, the fire broke out at around 9.30 pm on the third floor of the heritage that had been built in half-timbered Tudor style (all-wooden frames and shingled eaves) by Britishers in 1869.

“The fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames but by the time fire department officials reached the spot, two floors of the building were engulfed in the flames,” police said.

Earlier on January 28, two floors of Gorton Castle, also a heritage structure, were destroyed in major fire.
