Former union minister Gopinath Munde’s daughter Pritam Munde on Sunday created record of highest ever victory margin in the electoral history of India after she defeated her nearest rival by a margin of 6,92,245 votes.
Pritam defeated her rival Congress candidate Ashokrao Shankarrao Patil in the Beed Lok Sabha seat bypolls that were held along with aseembly elections in Maharashtra.
The seat had fallen vacant due to Munde’s death in car accident in New Delhi.
She had also broken Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s record of winning Vadodara LS seat by a margin of 5.70 lakh votes, however, the earlier record of highest margin was held by CPM leader Anil Basu, 5,92,502 votes in 2004 from Arambagh, West Bengal.
