Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) would soon launch Next Generation Network (NGN) services such as video telephony, video surveillance and mobile advertising services in Shimla.
BSNL General Manager M C Singh said that the landline customers would now be able to avail video calling, video conferencing, touch screen dialing, instant messaging, social network and business number facilities on their landline through NGN services.
“Internet Protocol (VoIP) based would provide landline users services like mobile phone and the contrax service would also provide them opportunity to connect with anyone anywhere in the country,” Singh said.
He added that the NGN service would be provided on 3200 lines in Chhota Shimla and 3000 lines in Sanjauli within a month.
It is pertinent to mention here that the technology used is in tune with the direction the telecom industry is heading all different types of communication networks like landline, mobile, internet etc. are converging into a single IP network which is today referred to as Next Generation Network (NGN).
