Court withdraws non bailable warrant against HPCA chief Anurag Thakur

Kangra district court on Tuesday withdraw non bailable warrant that were issued against Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association president Anurag Thakur and former state president of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Narendra Atri.

Thakur’s counsel Abhimannyu Chopra informed that the District and Sessions Judge D K Singh has passed the orders on August 16 whereby the court withdraw the non bailable warrants issued by CJM Jaswant Singh on August 1, 2014.

Thakur and Attri had challenged the orders and had filed a review petition in District and Sessions Court and the Court has also sought the lower court to submit all the records pertaining to the case with it. The Court has posted the matter for next hearing on September 10, 2014.

The case pertains to obstructing a public servant from discharging his duty and the Thakur and Attri had sought exmption from personal appearance in the court. The CJM court had issued non bailable warrant against them for failing to appear before the court for want of some documents.

Thakur had sought exemption from personal appearance on the ground that he is unable to appear before the court as monsoon session of the Parliament was in progress at that time while Attri had cited some medical reasons.
