All women police station opened at New Shimla

Shimla/August 11 (NG News)
Himachal’s first all women police station was on Monday opened at New Shimla in which all women related cases registered in police stations in the Shimla town would be transferred. Apart from this, the women complainants in the other parts of the district, feeling aggrieved by the functioning of police stations in the areas, can also approach this Women Police station.

The SHO (Station house Officer) and entire supporting staff including one Inspector, two sub-inspectors, six head constables and ten constables are women in this Police station. Further, there would be two additional constables for night and the search for a woman driver is on for the lone vehicle provided to the Police station.

After inaugurating the first Women Police Station of the state, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that it was another feather added to the cap of the state Police department and congratulated the department for their initiative of opening the first women police station of the State.

“Similar police stations would be set up in the state in a phased manner and the town having its own women police posts would facilitate the women to express their grouses without any hesitation to their police women counterpart,” Singh said.

The Chief Minister said that the state Government considers women as equal to men in all fields and does not believe in gender disparity.
