Show cause notice issued to JP cement company for violating norms

Shimla/June 9
Taking strong exception against the clinker unit of Jai Prakash Associates Limited for violating norms at Bagha plant, Himachal government on Monday issued show cause notice for not taking requisite permission for expansion of the plant and producing more than its sanctioned capacity without adhering to the norms and violating the terms and conditions of the agreement.
A Himachal government spokesperson said that as per the MoU signed between the state government and Jai Prakash Associates Limited, a clinker plant of the capacity 2.05 million tonne per year and cement plant of the capacity of 2.25 million tonne per year was to be set up at Bagha Bhalag.
“On inspection it came to the notice that the company was producing more than its sanctioned capacity. The company had neither taken sanction from the Government for its expansion nor fulfilled other statutory sanctions which were required for expansion,” the spokesperson added.
