24 students of VNR Engineering College, Hyderabad feared to have been drowned in Beas river in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday evening when water level of the river increased suddenly.
As per reports, a group of students from Hyderabad were going to Manali on college trip when around 24 students went for photography in the Beas river near Thalauth. Suddenly, the water level of Beas river increased reportedly due to water being released from Larji Hydro project Kullu without warning in which 24 students were washed away in strong current.
Sources said that the missing students include 18 boys and 6 girls and the police officials were now trying to identify the students by gathering details about the details who had gone down the river for photography.
Meanwhile, district administration have launched search and rescue operation to find missing students.
