Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission on Thursday postponed the HPAS Preliminary Examination to June 15 which was earlier scheduled to be held on May 11.
A HPPSC spokesperson said that all arrangements for the conduct of examination have been completed by the Commission, however, the exam was postponed on the request of the staff who have been deployed on election duty as they will not be able to prepare/appear in the examination.
“The Commission in a special meeting held under the chairmanship of HPPSC Chairman K S Tomar considered the representations received from various quarters. The Commission appreciated that the HPAS examination is the most prestigious examination in the state and a large number of aspirants from all sections of the society appear in the examination. The Commission felt that in view of its high outreach, it is necessary to ensure that equal opportunity is provided and nobody is deprived of the opportunity to appear in the exam, more so when one is deployed for the most onerous duty of conduct of elections in the state,” the spokesperson said.
He added that therefore the Commission decided to postpone the examination and it was decided that the examination will now be held on June 15, 2014.
