After approval from Election Commission, Himachal government on Wednesday announced pension allowance @ 5 per cent, 10 per cent and 15 per cent to the Government pensioners/family pensioners on attaining the age of 65 years, 70 years and 75 years respectively with effect from 1st April, 2014.
A Himachal government spokesperson said that 5 per cent of basic pension/family pension would be payable to the pensioners between the age of 65 years to less than 70 years, 10 per cent of basic pension/family pension to the pensioners of 70 years to less than 75 years of age and 15 percent of basic pension/family pension would be payable to the pensioners between the age of 70 years to less than 80 years.
He said that the pension allowance being an allowance shall not form the part of basic pension/family pension for the purpose of grant of dearness relief, meaning thereby, no dearness relief would be admissible on pension allowance. He said that the pension allowance shall not be admissible to the Government pensioners/family pensioners who have attained the age of 80 years and above as they were already getting additional pension on their basic pension/family pension. The pension allowance shall be admissible from the 1st day of the month in which his date of birth falls. He said that the pension allowance shall also be admissible to the All India Services Pensioners of Himachal Pradesh cadre.
