Punjab not to levy interest on outstanding house tax bills

In a big relief to the urban population of the state, Punjab Government on Monday allowed the citizen to pay the outstanding bill of house tax without any penalty. This facility would be applicable up till March 31, 2014.
Punjab Local Bodies minister Anil Joshi said that the consumers in order to avail this benefit have to deposit the out pending bills up to March 31, 2014. He further said that written instruction in this regard has already been dispatched to all the commissioner of the Municipal Corporations, Regional Deputy Directors of the Local Urban Bodies and Executive Officers of the all Nagar Councils and Panchayats. “The officers have also been told to sensitize the public about the initiative of the Government, so that more and more people can avail this opportunity”, the Minister added.
