Lok Sabha polls to be held in 9 phases from April 7

Indian Election Commission on Wednesday announced to conduct Lok Sabha elections in the country in nine phases from April 7, 2014 and the counting of votes will take place on May 16.
The Chief Election Commissioner of India V S Sampath said that around 81.4 crore voters will exercise their right to vote in upcoming elections through 9.30 lakh polling stations around country, out of which 10 crore persons are first time voters.
Sampath said that polling for 543 Lok Sabha seats will take place on April 9 in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam on April 7, 12, 24, Bihar on April 10, 17, 24, 30, May 7, 12, Chhattisgarh on April 10, 17, 24, Goa on April 17, Gujarat on April 30, Haryana on April 10, Himachal Pradesh on May 7, J&K on April 10, 17, 24, 30, May 7, Jharkhand on April 10, 17, 24, Karnataka on April 17, Kerala on April 10, MP on April 10, 17, 24, Maharashtra on April 10, 17 24, Manipur on April 9, 17, Meghalaya on April 9, Mizoram on April 9, Nagaland on April 9, Odisha on April 10, 17, Punjab on April 30, Rajasthan on April 17, 24, Sikkim on April 12, Tamil Nadu on April 24, Tripura on April 7 and 12, Uttar Pradesh on April 10, 17, 24, 30, May 7, 12, Uttarakhand on May 7, West Bengal on April 17, 24, 30, May 7, 12, Andaman and Nicobar Islands on April 10, Chandigarh on April 12, Dadra and Nagar Haveli on April 12, Daman and Diu on April 30, Lakshwadeep on April 10 and Puducherry on April 24.
