Shimla/February 18
Two IT students of a private university of Shimla were arrested by Rajasthan police for allegedly defrauding BSNL and fraudulently recharging over 500 mobile phones of Shimla circle, causing a loss of over Rs 10-15 lakh to the public sector company.
Police said that Kulshrestha Verma and Hardik Sood, both aged 19 years, allegedly hacked e-process of the BSNL’s IT service provider firm Data Infosys through which prepaid mobile phones were recharged.
BSNL had filed a complaint under IT act after the authorities found out that some mobile numbers were recharged by unknown persons after hacking the e-process server of the company. The duo, second year students of Information Technology Department, were arrested by a team of Jaipur police yesterday after police officials tracked the IP address of the accused persons.
