Punjab's ex-DGP prisons alleges abduction attempt by Punjab cops

Chandigarh/January 10
Chandigarh police on Friday detained Punjab police personnel in plain clothes from outside the house of Punjab’s Ex-DGP Prisons Shashi Kant after he alerted police about an alleged attempt to kidnap him.
As per reports, Shashi Kant informed Chandigarh police cops about some persons moving outside his residence in Chandigarh when he was about to go for morning walk today. “Acting swiftly, police officials arrested some persons and impounded some vehicles with Punjab police stickers that were parked near Shashi Kant’s house,” said the police, adding that some of them managed to escape from the spot.
Shashi Kant, in a statement given to Punjab and Haryana High Court last year, had alleged that some high profile politician from ruling Akali Dal and Punjab Congress are involved in drug trade and they use the profits from the trade to fund elections.
Few days back, the alleged kingpin of drug racket in the state and ex-Punjab police cop and arrested by cops for drug trade, Jagdish Bhola had also leveled similar allegations against the politicians of the state.
