Foundation stone of ADR Centre at Shimla laid by the Acting Chief Justice

The Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court Mansoor Ahmad Mir today laid the foundation stone of ADR (Alternative Disputes Resolution) Centre at the District Judicial Courts Complex at Chakkar. Judges of HP High Court Justice DD Sud, Justice Sanjay Karol, Justice Kuldip Singh, Justice Rajiv Sharma, Justice VK Sharma and Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary were also present on the occasion.
In his address, the Acting Chief Justice said that by laying the foundation stone of ADR Centre, foundation of peace has been laid down, which will lead to institutionalization of mediation as permanent source of alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
He said that long delays in disposal of cases lead to bitterness, hostility and enmity between the parties, which invariably lead to hatred and animosity in society as a whole. He said that the process of negotiated settlements by intervention of mediators ensures that there is no winner or loser and the result is acceptable to the society.
The laying of foundation stone of ADR Centre, Shimla is a part of the process of developing infrastructural facilities in each District, facilitating the mediators to sit and negotiate between the parties and settle their disputes amicably. The ADR Centre at Shimla is being constructed with an estimated cost of Rs. 3,85,83,000/-, which will cater to all the requirements essential for such centre and would have national level facilities available within the centre.
District & Sessions Judge, Shimla PS Rana gave welcome address and, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Shimla Jyotsana Dadwal presented Vote of Thanks. The Registrar General of HP High Court AC Dogra and the Member Secretary of the HP State Legal Services Authority Virender Singh were also present on the occasion.
