84 riots were planned, not spontaneous, says Zail Singh's press secy

New Delhi/January 30
Refuting the assertions of Congress’ Vice President Rahul Gandhi that 1984 anti-Sikh riots were spontaneous reaction to the killing of his grandmother and former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, former Indian President Giani Jail Singh’s Press Secretary said that the riots were planned and sponsored by Congress leaders.
While speaking with an Indian English daily, Jail Singh’s Press Secretary Tarlochan Singh said that as per the information collected by former Indian President, the riots were planned by Congress leaders that includes Arun Nehru, HKL Bhagat, Jagdish Tytler and others in a meeting in the evening, on the day Indira Gandhi was shot dead by her security guards.
Singh, who is also a BJP leader, alleged that the Congress leaders gave the slogan of ‘Khoon ka badla khoon’ after which riots started in Delhi, first in INA Market in south Delhi. “The alleged complicity of Congress leaders can be gauged from the fact that the then Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Home Minister PV Narsimha Rao didn’t even responded to the calls made by Zail Singh on October 31 and November 1,” Tarlochan Singh alleged, adding that Indian Prime Minister and Home Minister didn’t even took interest to stop the riots or help the victims.
The statement from former Rajya Sabha MP from BJP Tarlochan Singh came days after Rahul Gandhi while giving an interview to a national news channel has admitted that some Congress might be involved in 84 riots and the riots were spontaneous reaction to the killing of Indira Gandhi.
Rahul had further said that the then Indian government had tried its best stop the riots that took in Delhi for many days after October 31 and in which around 3000 Sikhs were massacred.
