Punjab cabinet on Thursday gave go ahead to fill more 1200 vacant posts in various department which include Co-operation Department, Animal Husbandry department and in Additional District and Session courts.
Punjab government spokesperson said that the state cabinet has approved these posts to streamline the functioning of these departments. The cabinet has approved to create 97 new posts in Co-operation department while abolishing 926 posts of various categories out of 2782 already approved posts out of which 1643 are still lying vacant.
“992 vacant posts of direct vacancies in Co-operation department will be filled in coming three years and after restructuring in the department, 1953 posts will be under regular head,” said the spokesperson, adding that the government has also given it ahead to recruit 175 Veterinary Inspectors to provide better services to dairy and livestock farmers of the state.
Further, the state government has also given its approval to create one post of H.R.A (Head Registration Assistant) each in five districts and 11 posts of H.R.Cs (Head Registration Clerks) in the remaining 11 districts. Besides this, the state government has decided to create 13 more posts of Additional District and Session Judges and these posts will be filled within next three months.
Apart from this, the state cabinet has decided to regularise the services of 229 temporary posts of Punjab Legal Services Authority and 88 Assistant District Attorneys of State Prosecution and Litigation department to provide free legal aid to the poor and bring awareness about legal literacy amongst the masses across the state.
The Cabinet also sanctioned 244 posts of various categories in the districts of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Moga and Sri Muktsar Sahib to further improve the administration and functioning of these districts on one hand and to overcome the shortage of staff on the other.
