Indian govt relaxes norms for granting pension to spouses

New Delhi/October 4
In a bid to do away with formalities for granting pension, Indian government on Friday decided to do away with the requirement of submission of Form 14 that needs to be attested by two gazetted officers.
The Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions V Narayanasamy said that the Union government has decided to do away with the requirement of submission of Form 14 to grant family pension where the pensioner and spouse hold a joint account. In other cases, spouse can simply enclose a copy of death certificate and he/she will have to produce two witnesses to testify the same.
Now, the paying bank will identify the spouse based on the information given in the PPO and its own ‘Know Your Customer’ procedures.
