Indian govt brings 37 ministries, deptts under online RTI ambit

Indian government on Thursday said that RTI activists can now information regarding 37 ministries and departments by using the RTI online web-portal www.rtionline.gov.in.
The Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office V Narayanasamy said that any Indian citizen can file RTI application online through RTI online web-portal and they can seek information only for 37 Ministries/Departments of Indian government.
He said that RTI applicants can pay the prescribed fee for the application online through a payment gateway of State Bank of India by way of internet banking of State Bank of India and its associate banks and by using debit/credit cards of Master/Visa.
“Government of India has started a RTI online web portal whereby Right to Information (RTI) applications can be filed online by Indian citizens, including those who are living abroad,” he added.
