Mumbai/May 16
Three cricketers including S Sreesanth along with 7 bookies have been arrested by Delhi police for spot fixing in IPL matches, sources said on Thursday.
Sources said that IPL team Rajasthan Royals team players S Sreesanth, Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila have been arrested by Delhi police from Mumbai for spot fixing. Police have also arrested 7 bookies for colluding with players.
“The players had allegedly indulged in spot fixing in matched played this week. They will be brought to Delhi and produced before a local court here today,” said the sources.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals’ team management said that they will don’t know about the spot fixing and they are surprised by the incident. “We will adopt zero tolerance about anyone who will work against the spirit of the game and they will co-operate with police,” said the Rajasthan Royals in a statement.
Meanwhile, Board of Cricket Control in India said that they will take strict against the cricketers and anyone found guilty won’t be spared.
S Sreesanth, who had played for 53 One day internationals and 27 tests for India, had earlier courted controversy for slapgate in which he was slapped by Harbhajan Singh during a match in 2008.
