Suspected Chinese spy held for interrogations in Dharamshala

A Tibetan national, suspected of being a Chinese spy, was on Wednesday evening taken into preventive custody by Himachal police from near in Dharashala town in Kagra district of the hill state.
Pempa Tsering’ (34) was taken into preventive custody by police officials last evening after they received an input in this regard from intelligence agencies and Tibetan authorities.
“On interrogations, Tesring admitted that he was a member of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China and also served in the People’s Armed Police Force (PAPF) before coming to India,” said a police official, adding that they have recovered an Indian voter- ID card and Adhar Card from Tsering and the documents are registered at Chandni Chowk area of New Delhi.
“He was taken into preventive custody from his residence near Norbulinga institute near the Army Head Quater in Yol Cantt area that is located 12 kms from Dharamshala,” said the police, adding that they have informed Indian Intelligence Bureau in this regard.
“We have received an input from intelligence agencies that he is suspected of passing information regarding the Tibetan government in exile and the Tibetan NGO’s working here to his masters,” said the police, adding that and they were chasing him from last few days.
Police officials said that they had to call translators for Tsering for interrogations as he didn’t know other languages.

Tsering has arrived here few days back and was staying in Sidhpur. He is a native of Tasora Village of Lahri County in Tibet and arrived in India through Nepal.
He was issued with registration certificated (RC) which every exiled Tibetan is used to get for his stay in India. His RC is valid from October 25, 2011 to October 2021.
Police sources said that he managed to get a Voter ID card of constituency of Chandni Chowk -30, Delhi and he also has an Adhar card issued in his name. The Voter ID with him was made on January 1, 2011 while the Adhaar card was of July 21, 1980.
Tsering which is suspected to by a spy or double agent has not been arrested yet as police officials have said that on being getting inputs from the intelligence agencies he is being interrogated. He is likely to be deported back to Tibet. Police has registered an FIR dated March 22, 2013 in various sections including section 420, 437, 466, 468, 471, 472, 479 and section 17 foreign registration acts. Police official have also decided to start a drive to verify the documents of Tibetans residing in the area after the recovery fake documents from the suspected spy.
