Punjab govt orders judicial probe into killing of ASI in Tarn Taran

Punjab Government on Friday ordered judicial probe into the death of Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Kulbir Singh who had died after being kidnapped by protesting farmers in village Jeobala in Tarn Taran district of the state.
Retired District and Session Judge of Haryana CR Goel will conduct the inquiry into the incident and he has been asked to submit report within three months.
Earlier, different farmers and labourer bodies had a detailed meeting with Chief Secretary on April 26 and a three member committed consisting of Advocate General Punjab, Chief Secretary Punjab and Principal Secretary Home was constituted to look into their demand.
“On the recommendations of three member committed, the decision to initiate Judicial Inquiry into the incident was taken and Punjab’s Chief Minister has approved the name of CR Goel, retired Session Judge Haryana to conduct the judicial probe into the issue,” said a spokesperson of Punjab government.
