Power minster urges GoI for immediate release of funds for Renukaji Dam project

Minister of MPP & Power Sujan Singh Pathania on Tuesday requested the Government of India to release immediately the fund for Land Acquisition & Infrastructure Development for Renukaji Dam Project in this year.
While presenting the case of Hiamchal in a meeting of the Upper Yamuna Review Committee held under the chairmanship of Minister of Water Resources Harish Rawat at New Delhi he stressed upon that the Renukaji Dam Project (40 MW) and Kishau Dam Project (660 MW) on Yamuna basin are to be constructed by HP Power Corporation Ltd. a Nodal Agency and both of these projects are of National Importance with a total water storage capacity of 1,82,200 hectare meter.
The Minister further stressed upon that the concerned ministries of Government of India may expedite various clearances relating to these projects and provide necessary funds timely so that pre-construction activities are commenced in scheduled time. He also assured on behalf of the state government to provide full co-operation for timely execution of these projects.
The total power generation of 40 MW to be produced from Renukaji Dam Project shall belongs to the State of Himachal Pradesh, while the power of 660 MW to be generated from Kishau Dam Project shall be shared between the state government of Himachal Pradesh, and Government of Uttrakhand on mutually agreed basis. The cost of power component in these projects shall be borne to the tune of 90% by Government of India and/ or other beneficiary state and only 10% of cost of power component would be borne by Himachal Pradesh.
