After the Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan incident in which a photographer along with his family has consumed poison to please Lord Shiva, yet another example of superstition leading to alleged attempted human sacrifice has emerged in Dhanbad area of India’s Jharkhand state.
In Rangatand Khatal area in Dhanbad, a RPF (Railway Police Force) constable was arrested on Thursday while he was allegedly trying to sacrifice two minor girls to please deity.
The accused Muni Lal was an ardent devotee of Goddess Kali and he had kidnapped two sisters aged 6 and 4 for sacrificing them to please Goddess.
“Muni Lal was caught by the grandfather Rajnath Yadav and father Umesh Yadav while he performing rites at his railway quarters to sacrifice the two minor girls. When the parents of the girls tried to rescue the minor girls, Muni Lal attacked them with a trident,” said the police, adding Rajnath and Umesh suffered injuries in the attack.
Muni Lal, however, was caught by locals who heard the commotion and beat him up before handing him over to the police. “The accused had tied the hands and feet of girls and burned them with incense sticks while performing religious rituals. We have also recovered skeleton remains of male from the house of accused and conducting tests to confirm their identity,” said the police.
“However on interrogation, Muni Lal refuted the allegations that he was trying to offer human sacrifice and told the police that he is an ardent devotee of Goddess from the past 30 years. He further said that he had brought the girls to worship them,” added the police.
Meanwhile, the parents of the girls have refuted his claims and said that Muni Lal was trying to sacrifice the girls.
