Offensive Facebook post land woman in jail

A woman activist of People’s Union for Civil Liberties NGO was arrested in Padmarao Nagar in India’s Andhra Pradesh state and was later sent to jail for allegedly posting objectionable content against Tamilnadu Governor K Rosaiah and a Congress MLA.
PUCL general secretary Jaya Vindhayal was arrested by police from Padmarao Nagar under IT Act for allegedly posting offensive content against Rosaiah and Chirala MLA Krishna Mohan on Facebook after which the MLA filed a case with police.
On investigations, it was revealed that before posting objectionable content online, she had allegedly distributed pamphlets making objectionable allegations against Rosaiah and Krishna Mohan.
She was produced before a local court that had remanded into judicial custody for 12 days. Meanwhile, police has sent a request to Facebook authorities to remove the defamatory content from its site.
