Man puts chastity lock on wife, sentenced to 10 years in jail

After a suspicion on his wife’s character, a 38-year-old man from Indore in India’s Madhya Pradesh state allegedly devised chastity lock and subjected his wife for cruelty by locking her private parts for more than four years.
As per reports, Sohanlal Chouhan, a mechanic by profession, had devised chastity lock as he suspected his wife’s character and he used to lock her private parts every time he went for work.
Sohanlal reportedly carried out surgery on his wife to put the lock her private parts in which she suffered injuries and he used to give her opium to relieve her of pain.
The incident came to light after the victim, who was tired of physical torture, tried to end her life by consuming poison in July 16, 2012. During the course of treatment, doctors came to know about the chastity lock was put on her private parts and reported the matter to police.
Sohanlal was arrested by police after the discovery and was tried in a local court here that had sentenced him to 10 years rigorous imprisonment.
The victim had reportedly retracted from her statement during the trial, however, the court convicted the accused on the basis of the statement of the doctors that had treated her.
