Kashmir festival to be held from May 13-29

With the objective to promote tourist activities in Kashmir Valley, Kashmir Festival 2013 will be from May 13-29 at various venues across Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian Tourism minister K Chiranjeevi said here today that Tourism ministry will financial support for Kashmir Festival and various tourist activities as Shikara Races, Cycle Races, Canoeing, River Rafting, Para Gliding, Painting, Swimming Competition, Horse Races will be held at Srinagar, Pahalgam, Yousmarg, Manasbal, Doodhpathri, Gulmarg, Lolab Valley and Sonmarg.
“Kashmir festival will showcase culture of Jammu and Kashmir through performances by the state’s cultural troupes. Furthermore, Tourism ministry is coordinating with other Indian ministries as Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Civil Aviation for outlining the concessional fares and tour package to make the festival a success,” Chiranjeevi said.
Besides this, Ministry of Culture will be organizing cultural events through different cultural troupes while Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will organize sports activities such as Boat Race and other adventure sports like paragliding, horse race to attract tourists, the Tourism minister said.
Chiranjeevi added that the local hoteliers, guest house owners including House Boats of Kashmir Division are already announcing 20-30 percent discount to tourists during Kashmir Festival.
