Kapurthala’s executive officer arrested by Vigilance Bureau while taking bribe

The executive officer of Punjab’s Kapurthala district was arrested on Wednesday by a Vigilance Bureau team for demanding a bribe Rs 50,000 for passing map to construct house.
“Kapurthala’s executive officer Parkash Singh Sandhu was allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from one Joginder Singh of Mohali for passing map to construct house at his plot in the area after which Singh filed a complaint with the Vigilance Bureau of Punjab,” said Sursh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau of Punjab.
Arora said that after receiving the complaint, we laid a trap and Sandhu was caught by a team of Vigilance Bureau while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant.
“A case under sections 7, 13 (1), 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress,” Arora added.
