Kanda charged with rape, unnatural sex in Geetika suicide case

New Delhi/May 10
Already booked by police for abetting suicide, conspiracy and forgery under IPC and IT, a Delhi court on Friday booked former Home Minister of Haryana Gopal Goyal Kanda with rape and unnatural sex.
The court observed that prima facie evidence warrants Kanda to be charged for rape and unnatural sex along with criminal conspiracy and forgery under IPC and IT Act for allegedly hacking into Geetika Sharma’s computer and sending offensive emails. His associate and an employee of MDLR airlines Aruna Chadha has also been booked on charges of rape and abetment of suicide.
The court also converted the case in sexual offence case and forwarded the matter for trial before a fast track court dealing with sexual offence cases. Meanwhile, the court will record prosecution evidences on May 27.
Geetika, a former airhostess with Kanda’s MDLR airlines, had committed suicide on August 4, 2012 at her Ashok Vihar residence and blamed Kanda for taking the extreme step in her suicide note. Her mother Anuradha had also committed suicide on February 15 due to alleged harassment and pressure from Kanda.
