Judge appointed to probe Sarabjit murder case in Pakistan

A Pakistani Court on Friday appointed a serving judge to probe the murder of Indian national Sarabjit Singh who died in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore on after being attacked by jail inmates.
Pakistan’s Lahore High court on Friday appointed Justice Syed Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqbi to probe the attack on Sarabjit Singh and submit a report in this regard in the court. However, the court didn’t gave any deadline to complete the investigations.
Sarabji Singh, who was sentenced to death for allegedly carrying out blasts in Pakistan and killing innocent civilians, was badly beaten up in the Lahore Jail on April 26 and he had slipped into after the attack. Singh had succumbed to the injuries on May 2 in Jinnah Hospital in Lahore.
After the uproar over the incident, Pakistani police had booked two death row prisoners Amer Aftab and Mudassar for brutally assaulting Singh. The accused had reportedly confessed to the crime and had reportedly said they wanted kill him as he had killed innocent Pakistani civilians.
