JET-2013 toppers in Punjab will get scholarship under which their fee will waived off along with better job opportunities and higher education opportunities at Chandigarh University.
Punjab’s Technical Education minister Anil Joshi said that the state government has decided to provide Super Achievers Scholarship scheme to JET-2013 toppers and under this scheme, 50 students’ fee will waived off in addition to other opportunities.
The scheme has been by Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training in association with in Polytechnic College, Gharuan.
”100 percent fee of top 50 meritorious students of JET-2013 will be waived off under this scholarship and 1 percent quota would be reserved for single girl child and victims of Aids and cancer that studying in the government technical educational institutes in the state,” Joshi said while urging other educational institutions to come forward to support the meritorious students.
“Under the scholarship program, Chandigarh Polytechnic College will invite online applications from the students who have appeared in JET-2013 and the registration scholarship program would be made on the Website of Chandigarh Polytechnic College and top 50 students chosen from the merit list drawn of the total applied candidates would be entitled for “Super Achiever Scholarship,” Joshi said.
He further said that the other benefits that would be offered to the students under the scheme include placements in top multi nationals companies and higher education opportunities at Chandigarh University after completion of the course.
”Besides this, the expenses meant for course books and college uniform
will be borne by Chandigarh Polytechnic College and the classes will be held separately for the 50 selected meritorious students and Research based training as per the Industry requirements will be imparted to them,” Joshi added.
Joshi further added that financial assistance would be provided to Schedule Caste students whose parent’s annual income was less than Rs 2 lakhs.
The Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Gharuan Satnam Singh Sandhu said that the placement prospects for Diploma Engineering students was equally bright as Degree Engineering students and 20 companies from diverse fields have selected a total of 250 CPC students during various placement drives last year.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of Chandigarh University R.S.Bawa said, “As a Corporate we have Social Responsibility towards society and to perform that we want to attract brilliant and talented students through
Super Achievers Scholarship program and an amount of Rs. 45 lakh has
been earmarked for the program.”
