Indian govt gives nod for four laning of road from Kiratpur to Mandi

The woes of tourists traveling to famous tourist destination of Himachal, Manali are likely to end soon as Indian government’s Environment and Forest ministry have gave its go ahead to four laning work of Chandigarh-Manali national highway from Kiratpur.
Himachal’s Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Firday said that Indian Environment and Forest ministry has gave approval for divergence 75 hectares of forest land in Bilaspur district and now, the work to further expand road from Kiratpur will start soon.
“This step will pave the way for expeditious commencement of Rs 2300 crore Kiratpur-Manali four lane project upto Nerchowk in Mandi district,” Singh said, adding that the state Government had already announced land acquisition award pertaining to three villages of Bilaspur district.
Singh further said that construction works on the tunnel below Swarghat and on the four lane project will be started by IL&FS engineering and Construction Company as all clearances have been received from Indian government and Himachal Government.
