Himachal Lokhit Party (HLP) on Saturday urged Congress government to epedite investigations into various corruption cases pertaining to former BJP led government.
While addressing mediapersons here, HLP chief Maheshwar Singh said that his party was not satisfied with the investigations conducted into various corruption cases. “HLP had given its support to Congress on various issues and will review its future plans after completion of six months of its rule,” he added.
Maheshwar Singh alleged that there was unnecessary delay into the investigations on some specific cases of irregularities which also include a case related to the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.
“Till date Congress government had failed to get the FIR registered in this case. If some high officials are responsible for this delay, then the Congress government should initiate action against them,” he added.
He alleged that to make more delay in this case, government has approached the High Court to get the FIR registered, though there was no need of this action.
“Same is the story in the alleged pulse scam, where Congress government had registered FIR, but no progress has been made into probe till date,” he added.
HLP also demanded to recover the pending security dues with HPCA to IPL matches in Dharamshala. “If the Maharashtra government is charging for security arrangements for IPL matches, then why the Himachal government is not charging any money,” he questioned.
HLP also termed the demand by leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal of judicial probe into various charges as totally baseless. Maheshwar Singh said that nothing would come out in the judicial probe as same had happened when judicial probe was ordered into a corruption case against BJP leader Bangaroo Laxman.
“It was the probe by the police that had sent him behind bars and same type of probe was needed in this case. We suggest that the probe should be conducted by the state vigilance or police and it can be supervised by the state High Court,” HLP leader said.
On the issue of infamous phone tapping scandal, he said that it was a serious crime and guilty should be punished at the earliest.
HLP urged to state Congress government that all probes into the corruption cases should be completed before the election code of conduct comes into force in the state due to byelections in Mandi parliamentary seat.
Maheshwar Singh also made it clear that his party was not going to field any candidate in Mandi by-election as it was not feasible for the party due to money constraints. “There is no scope of tie-up with the BJP party in future and we will continue to oppose the party in the Mandi by-election also like before,” Singh said.
HLP said that the Unemployment allowance to unemployed youth by the Congress government was a welcome step and it was HLP, who had included this issue in their election manifesto for the first time before state assembly elections.
HLP leader said that Congress government had imposed an unnecessary rider to become eligible for this allowance that one should have registered his name at least ten years ago in various employment exchanges. According to this rider no one was becoming eligible for unemployment allowance before the age of 28 years. This unnecessary condition for the unemployed youth should be removed at once, he added.
