Finally, Railway and Law Minister resigns

After days of suspense over their fate in Indian cabinet, Railway minister Pawan Kumar and Law Minister Ashwani Kumar today forwarded their resignations to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Bansal was in dock with heavy criticism from opposition parties after his nephew Vijay Singla was arrested by India’s premier investigating agency CBI on charges of taking bribe from railway official for his promotion.
Meanwhile, Law minister Ashwani Kumar was targeted by opposition parties for tampering with CBI’s status report on Coal scam which was to be submitted before Supreme Court of India. Even, Indian Supreme Court had observed that the Law Minister and PMO officials, who had suggested changes in report, had no authority to view the report or suggest changes in it.
Bansal and Kumar submitted their resignation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his 7, Race Course residence in the evening today.
Congress led UPA government was under heavy fire from opposition over scams and even Indian Parliament couldn’t function even for a day as opposition continued to protests in the well of the house demanding their resignations.
