CBI officer probing Coal scam arrested for taking bribe

A senior CBI officer who was the investigating officer in Coal scam was arrested on Friday arrested for taking bribe of Rs 7 lakh. Another inspector has also been arrested in the same case.
Vivek Dutt, a Superintendent of Police with India’s premier investigating agency CBI, who was an investigating officer in coal scam, along with an Inspector Rajesh Karnatak were arrested by CBI’s internal vigilance department while taking bribe from a businessman to settle a land dispute case.
Sources said that Dutt had allegedly used his influence in withdrawing a petition in a land dispute case that had benefited the business. “Dutt, Rajesh along with businessman and one another person has been arrested a Vigilance team of team while bribe was being paid,” said the sources.
Meanwhile, CBI will inform the Supreme Court of India about the developments in coal scam case as the Apex Court had ruled that no officer associated with investigations into the scam should be transferred with informing it.
