We will continue to oppose Himalayan Ski Village project: Maheshwar Singh

Shimla/ April 17
Himachal Lokhit Party chief Maheshwar Singh said that he will continue opposing the Himalayan Ski Village project. He said that the conditions of MoU were totally against the interests of people and religious sentiments of locals.
Addressing media here on Wednesday, he said the present infrastructure and hotels running in the Kullu and Manali were enough to accommodate the tourists visiting these places.
“It is nothing but only a real estate business. Instead of setting up this project, government should upgrade the present infrastructure which would be more in the interests of locals as well as state. If needed we would not hesitate to launch agitations, “he added
He said that Congress government should give special attention and take special steps to make the state corruption free to win the faith of people.
HLP leader said that till date Congress government has not taken any action against the irregularities committed during BJP government.
He alleged that hundreds of illegal land deals were made during BJP government but till date Congress government has taken action against only land deal near Sadhupul which belongs to Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust.
“The state government should probe all these shady land deals at the earliest, so that the public of state can know th truth,” he added.
He also asked the Congress government to make its stand clear on the HPCA’s land issue.
“On one side the Congress government is criticising the HPCA for committing irregularities in the construction of “The Pavillion”, while on the other hand Congress government has accepted the lease money in the month of December when it was in power. It was during the Congress government, when the bar licence was given to this hotel of HPCA, “he added.
Replying to a question, HLP leader said that he was neither opposing nor supporting any move of Congress government to fill the cabinet berth from this district.
“It is an internal matter of Congress government. As far as I am concerned I am not going to joint any party as it is against my principles, “he added.

On the move of removing encroachments from the forest land, he said that BJP government had befooled the people assuring them regularisation of their encroachments by submitting affidavits.
Maheshwar Singh said that those persons who had not submitted any affidavits were still possessing forest land illegally, while those who submitted affidavits were forced to face action.
He said that government should not deal all the cases with same yard stick, but the cases with gross violations would be dealt separately.
