Drug peddler names two boxers as clients including Olympian Vijender Singh

Police has arrested one Anoop Singh Kahlon with 26 kg heroin

Olympic medal winning boxer Vijender Singh along with one another boxer Ram Singh were named as clients by one drug peddler who was arrested by Punjab police along with 26kg of heroin worth Rs 130 crore.
Ludhiana Range DIG, MF Farooqui said here that they arrested one Anoop Singh Kahlon from Zirakpur area yesterday on the basis of an intelligence input and recovered 26 Kgs of Heroin from his possession.
“On interrogation, Anoop Singh Kahlon made certain disclosures concerning a few sportsmen, including boxers, Vijender Singh and Ram Singh, which are presently being examined. Boxer Ram Singh was called by the Fatehgarh Sahib police to join investigation on March 8 but has not been arrested. Further investigations in the matter are on,” said Farooqui.
Sources in the police said that Anup Singh Kahlon was arrested yesterday from a checkpoint 600 gms of heroin and on his instance, police raided a flat in Zirakpur area and recovered drugs worth Rs 130 crores. One Canada based NRI, Kulwinder Singh and two other persons have also been arrested by the police but their names were not revealed by the police as it might hamper investigations. “Police officials have recovered car of Vijender’s wife from near the house of accused but it doesn’t prove anything. Police officials are investigating the matter from all possible angles and they may quiz the boxer in near future,” sources said.
Meanwhile, Vijender Singh had denied any links with the drug peddler and said that he is in Mumbai and his friend might have taken his car to Zirakpur.
