Baba Ramdev more interested in politics nowadays than Yoga: Virbhadra Singh

CM says Kangra will be developed as tourist hub

Faced with allegations from Baba Ramdev for canceling the Sadhupul land lease, Himachal Chief Minster Virbhadra Singh today said that nowadays, Baba Ramdev is more interested in politics than Yoga, adding that state government had cancelled the lease on merit.
While addressing mediapersons, Virbhadra Singh said, “Baba Ramdev is a good Yoga Guru but now-a-days he is taking more interest in politics than Yoga adding that State Government had cancelled the lease of the land on merit. This land was allotted by ignoring the fact that it had been donated for developing Children Park.”
Singh further stated that the state government is conducting an inquiry into all the benami land transactions and action would be taken guilty persons as per the law.
He said that the government is going to develop Kangra as tourist hub and it will be provided with all basic amenities necessary for promoting the tourism activities, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said here today.
Singh said that the government had issued directions in this regard and to accelerate the work on Rs 14 crore Kangra Sewerage Project. “Besides this, government will take steps to increase Tea production in Kangra and will popularise it at international level,” Singh said.
Virbhadra Singh also raised concern over reduction in area under Tea cultivation over the past years and said that serious efforts would be made to encourage the tea cultivators.
”Tanda Medical College was being developed on the analogy of AIIMS to provide modern medical facilities to the people of the area. We have issued directions to transfer PWD Division back to Tanda and Sub Divisional offices of PWD, Electricity and IPH were also being established there,” Singh stated.
On the issue of environment clearance to the land selected for Central University at Dehra and Dharamshala, the Chief Minister said that it was under the consideration of Union Government and the University will be established according to the report.
Singh added that state government will welcome the initiatives of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association for popularising cricket in the State but stern action would be taken if anomalies were found in construction of Hotel and main cricket stadium be used for commercial activities.
