The famous week long International Minjar Fair of Chamba concluded with much traditional and religious fervor on Sunday with concluding ceremonial procession which started from Raj Mahal to the banks of Ravi river to immerse “Minjar” (Golden tassels) in a traditional manner into the river. Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal led the procession.
Speaker H.P. Vidhan Sabha Tulsi Ram Sharma, MLAs B.K. Chauhan, Renu Chadda, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Surinder Bhardwaj and other prominent leaders of the district accompanied the Chief Minister in the procession and they were followed by culture troupes, Police and Home guard besides people who participated in the week long fair. Chief Minister also witnessed wrestling bouts in the historic Chaugan Maidan and distributed prizes to the winners.
Earlier Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal performed foundation stone laying ceremony of developmental projects worth Rs. 8.65 crore in Chamba. This includes 30 meters span bridge over Rathiar Nallah on Bhanera-Kolka road, estimated to cost Rs. 1.45 crore at Rathiar. Water Supply Scheme Sungal, estimated to cost Rs. 1.45 crore two bridges on Chamba-Sahoo road over Sangera Nallah estimated to cost Rs. 2.47 crore and 5.25 kms. Long link road to village Sirna in Gram Panchayat Janghi.
Dhumal also listened to public grievances at all these places and directed the officers to do the needful on priority so that the grievances were redressed.
