The hill state is going to witness polls in next three months time and till now Congrees had remained completely ineffective in playing the role of strong opposition under the leadership of Kaul Singh Thakur. Singh had also threatened to leave the party,if he was not given a proper place in the state,or given a free hand to lead the campaign .
AICC General secretary Birender Singh—who is incharge of the party affairs in Himachal Pradesh confirmed that five-time chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has been given the high command as the Congress felt the change would give some gains to the party in the BJP-ruled state.
