HP to give away free net books on Independence day


 

 

SHIMLA/ August 14

The state government has decided to launch the campaign of distributing the free net books to the meritorious students on August 15.

In every district the chief guest presiding over the Independence Day function will distribute 25 net books to meritorious students.

The directorate of Higher Education has directed all Deputy Directors, Education to send the list of toppers.They have been also asked to contact the students and to ensure their presence.

It is to be noted that Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal had made the announcement in his budget speech regarding promotion of Computer and IT literacy amongst the meritorious top 4000 students of class 10 th HP Board March 2012 examination.

To achieve this objective it was announced to provide free net books to 4000 meritorious students while pursuing higher studies. The education department has already procured 4000 net books (Aspire one D270).

The list of top 4000 students has been prepared by the HP Board of School Education Dharamshala. The rest of the netbooks are distributed to the students in the next phase.

At the time when Central government has announced to launch the scheme of distributing free mobiles on Independence Day, the scheme of providing free net books to the meritorious students is supposed to provide some relief to the BJP government especially in the election year.
