Gadkari slams UPA for price rise and corruption

Slamming the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) central government for price rise, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari Sunday said here that in last eight years inflation has broken all the records.  “Petrol prices have been gone up by 18 times, bank interest rates up by 17 times, foodgrains worth 58000 crores is rotting, big scams have surfaced one after another and unemployment is on the rise. This all has been given by the UPA II,” Gadkari said.He was addressing a massive  ‘Mission Repeat Sankalp” rally organized by Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha at Kangra today.

National BJP President, Gadkari blamed the UPA Government for failing to check the rising prices  and added that it could not fulfill its promise of checking the same within 100 days.

Comparing the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance regime with current UPA government, he said the gross domestic product (GDP) which was around 9 percent during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government has come down to 5.5 percent in the UPA regime.

On huge black money stashed in foreign banks, Gadkari said: “The UPA government is not serious. If BJP returned to power in 2014 (parliamentary elections), it will bring back the black money.”Termed the upcoming assembly polls in the hill state as semifinal to the 2014 general elections, he called upon the party workers to work hard to ensure the repeat of government in the state.

He said that the 1lakh 76000 crore 2G Spectrum and 76 lakh crore Commonwealth Games scams surfaced during the tenure of the UPA Government.

He said that economy of the country had crashed and added that the value of rupee had depreciated in comparison to Dollar leading to fall in foreign investment. He said that the Prime Minister leading the UPA Government could not provide responsive government to the people and failed to win their confidence.

He praised  Himachal Pradesh and said that state had achieved new heights of development under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that the Central Government had not adopted positive approach regarding providing Rs. 4000 crore  dues of Himachal Pradesh from BBMB despite the verdict of Supreme Court. He said that the matter was kept pending by the Centre inspite of repeated pursuance by the State Government. He said that UPA Government had been adopting unjust attitude towards the State and its people whereas two Ministers represented the State at the Centre who failed to protect the interests of the people.

National Vice President, BJP Shanta Kumarexpressed concern over the rampant corruption in the UPA Government and also its indiscriminatory  attitude towards Himachal Pradesh Government. He said that the NDA Government in case come to power in 2014 Himachal Pradesh legitimate due would be ensured.

Shanta Kumar said that people of the State were well aware of nefarious designs of the Congress and will give crushing defeat in the ensuing vidhan sabha election.
