Patwaris to sit in offices thrice in week in Punjab


Revenue and Public Relations Minister of Punjab Mr Bikram Singh Majithia today ordered that all land related cases of NRIs would be looked into by the District Revenue Officers, who have been designated as Nodel Officers to redress the grievance of NRIs.

Presiding over the meeting of Financial Commissioner Revenue Mr N.S.Kang and District Revenue Officers to improve the functioning of Revenue Department, Mr Majithia said that it was a general phenomenon that NRIs come to Punjab for a limited period of time mainly one to two months and they have to face many problems in their land related matters. He said that keeping in view these things Punjab Government has designated all DROs as Nodel officers of NRIs, which would dispose off all revenue cases like Partition, Mutations, Girdawari Lambardari and Marriage registration, involving NRIs.

He said that Revenue department has initiated a special drive to identify  the number of NRIs at village level, their property and citizenship.

Mr Majithia said that the work regarding the setting up of Patwar Stations at each Sub-Division would be completed within 6 months. He also said that it has been made mandatory for Patwaris to attend their offices at Patwar Stations thrice in a week and for the remaining two days they would look after their field work.

He further said that with a purpose to save time and manpower, it has also been decided to adopt Token System at all Farad Kendras by August 15 on the pattern of Passport offices. To improve the usual functioning of Farad Kendras and computerization of land records, Mr Majithia ordered all District Revenue Officers to conduct surprise checks at Farad Kendras, so that the problems faced by common man could be identified and solved. Besides that it has been also decided in the meeting to hold Revenue camps at the District level once in a month.
