International Shimla Summer Festival to begin from June 2


To attract attention of tourists visiting the scenic city of Shimla and to rejuvenate the spirit of locals, the hill city is all set for the famous five days International Shimla Summer festival 2012 starting from June 2.

Like every year, the festival will spread it charm and splendor by the presence of eminent personalities and exciting evening programs to promote the unique culture of Himachal.

The festival will be inaugurated by Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh PK Dhumal and will have performances of various Bollywood playback singers like Mohd. Irfan, Hema Sardesai, Hans Raj Hans and Udit Narayan. Various other programs like fashion show, baby show, dog show, flower exhibition and Himachal food festival will also be a part of the summer festival.

“International Shimla Summer Festival will be better and more entertaining this time. For the convenience of the people we have requested Himachal Road Transport Corporation to increase the number of buses and made various other arrangements for public safety,” said Deputy Commissioner Manish Garg.

Along with the local Himachali folk artists, every day five to six troops of local artists from schools perform in the festival.

A painting competition for school children and professionals is being conducted on May 29-30 and the winner entries will be displayed from May 31-1.

Playback singer Mohd. Irfan will perform and ‘Hasya Kavi Sammelan’ will be conducted on the first evening of the festival in which Sunil Jogi and Padam Albela would be center of attraction.

On May 3 Indian Idol Anuj Sharma and eminent singer Hema Sardesai will sway away the audience with their melodious voice.

Famous Himachali folk singer like Kuldeep Sharma, Hemant Sharma, Kishan Verma and Sharda Sharma will perform on the third night dedicated to Himachal’s folk and culture.

Fourth evening will focus on the fashion show and famous Punjabi singer Hans Raj Hans. On the last day of the festival, Arun fareedi and prominent Bollywood singer Udit Narayan will perform to enthrall their fans.
