In an impossible bid to placate rival BJP leader Shanta Kumar, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Monday said “whatever the senior BJP leader, Shanta Kumar advices is like an order for us”. Talking to media here on Monday, Dhumal said the government was concerned about Shanta Kumar’s dream project of multi speciality hospital and medical college at Palampur and was committed to expedite the same.
Chief Minister said that previous BJP government’s had given an amount of Rs. 4.15 Crore to the Vivekananda Medical Research Trust to the construction of Vivekananda Medical College and Research Institute (VMRI), a dream project of Shanta Kumar.
The Congress government after coming into power in the state had even tried hard to take this money back, he said.
He said that under this project a construction work of 54000 square meters has completed and there was no delay in the process on BJP government’s behalf.
He said that government was ready to give NOC for the trust if any proposal comes from the trust.
“We had advertised the Palampur- Neugal Ropeway project three times and after getting poor response we have even awarded this project to the single bidder,” Dhumal said. He said this project would soon be completed.
Chief Minister said that BJP government will also take Shanta’s advice on the creation of new district. “Shanta Kumar had not been able to attended this meeting due to his busy schedule and next meeting would surely attended by the him,” Dhumal.
Chief Minister however refused to comment on party affairs but said that BJP was doing well in Himachal.
“The issue of creating new districts has nothing to do with the election year and it has been raised by the people. The party will take the opinion of every leader and people on this issue and after that the final decision would be taken, “the Chief Minister said.
