Youth commits suicide in frustration over being unemployed

A 25 year old youth, Prince on last intervening night committed suicide from jumping from a hillock near Sanjauli in Shimla in frustration. The recovered a suicide notes by the police mentions the unemployment, corruption, and inflation as the reasons that compelled the youth to take this drastic step.

Superintendent of Police, Jagat Ram said the youth was staying in a hotel at Sanjauli and was a passed out student from hotel management institute of this area. He said that police have also recovered some bear bottles from the room of the hotel where he was staying and police was also suspecting that youth was inebriated condition when he committed suicide.

Sources said that Prince was lonely child who belongs to well to do family. His father is a senior officer in Public Work Department and mother is posted as professor in government college of Mandi district. Police is also suspecting that the youth was not in good mental condition since last many days as the money crisis was not the reason behind taking this step.

While the Communist Party of India Marxist has deep mourned the death of a youth.

CPIM said that this was probably the first death in the state that has taken place because of the growing menace of unemployment. The suicide note recovered by the police categorically mentions the reason for such a drastic step; the growing menace of unemployment in the state. CPIM leader Tikender Singh Panwar stated that after a farmer suicide in Hamirpur district, this is the first suicide for employment.

He said that the state government must learn some lessons and stop singing the rhetoric of getting awards for development in the state. Whereas the reality is altogether different, he added.

He said that the government has further restricted the avenues of employment. The recent struggle of IT teachers, Para and PAT teachers is a pointer towards the growing apathy of government in this sector. This has made the unemployment situation more precarious.The party has demanded a white paper from the government on the condition of employment in the state.
