18 killed in bus accident in Himachal

As many as 18 persons were killed and fourteen others were injured as a private bus rolled down into a deep gorge near Punradhar in Sangrah tehsil of Sirmaur district in Himachal on Friday morning.
The ill-fated bus carrying 35 passengers was on its way from Punradhar to Solan and the tragedy struck when the bus had barely covered 5-Km from the starting point. Harbans Negi, Sub-divisional Magistrate Sangrah informed that the ill-fated private bus was on its way from Purandhar to Solan. He said that the accident took place at Bharari, around 15 Kilometers from Nohradhar at around 7.20 AM. A sum of rupees Rs. 10 thousand each had been provided as an immediate relief to the next of kin and rupees five thousand each to the injured, added he.
A Magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the accident.
Governor Urmila Singh and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh have expressed grief over the accident and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
Chief Minister directed the district administration to provide all possible assistance to the victims and the kin of those who died in the mishap. He directed to carry out relief and rescue operations on war footing and wished early recovery of those injured.
