Eleven persons were reported to have been killed while six others injuries after a Mahindra Pick up fell into gorge on Naggar-Jana road in Himacha’s Kullu district on Tuesday.
As per reports, the accident took place at Paljot near Nathan village of Kullu district at around 3 pm today. “The driver of pickup lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a turn and it fell into 100 metres deep gorge,” said the police, adding that 11 persons including the driver of the pickup had died in the accident while six others have suffered injuries in the incident.
The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
The eleven persons who had died in the accident, belong to Nathan village and they have been identified as Nimu Devi, Mohini Devi, Kusam Lata, Devindra Devi, Kamala Devi, Kumari Radhika, Dolma Devi, Hira Lal, Nirmala Devi, Kamala Devi and Basru Devi. Meanwhile, the injured have been identified as Fagli Devi, Chet ram, Manoj Kumar, Lot Ram, Ljtu devi and Tikam Ram.
Himachal’s Transport minister G.S. Bali visited the accident spot and supervised the relief and rescue operations. He also visited PHC Naggar to enquire the well being of the injured.
The district administration gave immediate relief of Rs 10000 each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 5000 each to the injured.
Himachal’s Governor Urmila Singh and Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh have expressed grief over the mishap and condoled the death of occupants of the vehicle.
